How Young is too Young for a Cell Phone?

The age of when to give your child a phone varies between the views of parents from different households. Within The Parent App, some parents suggested that when their child’s friends receive phones, then their children will be able to receive phones as well. I think that peer pressure is a huge factor into when to give your child a phone. According to an article by Digital Trends, the average age for a child to get a smartphone is 10.3 years of age. I personally think that this too early for a child to have a cell phone because of how dangerous social and digital media can be.
